DARBARA SINGH

I was recently doing a bit of research for this blog and I came across the tale of Darbarra Singh. It is the story of a young nine year child who achieved shahidi for Sikhism. We must remember tales and pass them along from generation to generation for they will increase the knowledge about our religion and make it last. This is why it is important to go to camp at the guardwara, learn the religious instruments, learn baani, learn gadka. This is exactly what the purpose of Bill 101 was, to promote the French culture and make it last. I know that I'm going a bit off track but I will next write the story that I had read about Darbarra Singh.

NEVER FORGET 1984

I wanted to write the following in my previous post, but I felt that it would have been to long. We must consider that what happended in 1984 was not only an attack on our religion. We must remember that not only was the Golden temple destroyed, but also the Sikh reference library; also the orignal Guru Granth Sahib and I believe more than 80 other guardwarads as well. To the left is a picture of what the Golden Temple looked like in 1984 after the attack. We must remember that not only was the army used, but also naval divers, first time to be used after the second world war; poisonious gas which was not used by anyone in power before this except Hitler. We must remember that the police and army went into a killing streak againt Sikhs; even thought we have never meant any harm. Even when we have co-operated with authorities, for example, the Kelo incident we have ended up harmed. I personally do not know much but I would like to learn more about it, could someone please leave a comment? The Indian Gouvernment lets those individuals go who were held responsible for murders of Sikhs when all the witnesses suddendly die or refuse to speak why? If you are not a Indian citizen I would like you to think, is India really a democratic country when it won't even allow Sikhs to become their own seperate state? Thanks for reading this post, sorry it is a bit short but I will build up on this, its just that I need more information.

NEVER FORGET 1984

I do want to write about 1984 but feel that it is a very sad time, that one most people don't want to discuss or they want to forget about. On the contary, this is exactly why I want to write about it. The Indian gouvernment itself is telling us to forget about it, by why should we? I think that it is very important that we remember this, because of the fact that the Indian governement is telling us to forget about it. This is the same gouvernement that not only did terrible things to Sikhs in India but also abroad. This is the same gouvernment that put pressure on the Canadian governement to re-open the case of the Air India bombing when it had been closed. SO THAT SIKHS COULD BE BLASTED OUT OF THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA. I personally would now like to draw your attention to a sheet of paper that I recieved and would like you to read. The following is a direct quotation.

The purpose of this demonstration is to give an insight into the attrociotes we have suffered since 1984 qnd how they have changed the chracteristics and nature of Sikhs today. The Sikhs are a peace loving community who following the teachings of the 10 gurus. Guru Nanak Dev Ji taught the human race is one race and we are all children of God, regardless of what faith we follow, caste, gender, backround etc. Since the very begining of Sikhi the Sikhs have faced a series of human right violations. Guru Nanak Dev Ji himself was unjustly improsoned by the mughal forces for preaching unity amongst all and devotation to god.

Guru Arjand Dev Ji was the 5th Master of the Sikhs and is often referred to the King of Shaheeds (martyrs) as he was the first Sikh Martyr. The Sacrifice made by the peace loving Guru was one of the biggest turning point in the history of Sikhs. The revered Guru was killed entirely because of the faith he followed.

As Sikhs, we have strived throught some tought and harsh times in our rich history; we have made hundreads of thousands, maybe even millions of sacrifices ever since the death of the fifth King to the present day. We will always be willing be willing to do so unless any opression is uplifted. Primarily as Sikhs we hope that such extreme measures aren't necessary, but subsequently such sacrifices are never forgotten.

One of the most horrific attacks on the Sikhs was only 25 years ago on the day of June 6,1984. When the Temple of God, Sri Harmandar Sahib was attacked and the Seat of Temporal Authority, Akaal Tkhat was demonished on the same day of the fifth Guru's Martyr. Sikhs will never be able to forget how the Indian Gouvernment led by Indra Gandhi laid seige to the most Famous of Sikh Temples. In a feeble attampt to wipe out the Sikh Nation with the with the excuse to liquidise Militants and Terrorists, Indra Ghandhi ordered not the state police, but the countries army to storm the Golden Temple Complex and other Sikh shrines all over India.

There are many questions that remain unanswered as to why the Indian Gouvernemnt attacked a small minority of their own citizens. The peace keeping Sikhs never stepped out of line and even in 1947 helped in the might battle when India was created. What makes it worse is that not one single MP has once appolized or made a statement to say that what happended was wrong and was not nessary. As Sikhs we feel cheated, we demand justice and demand the Very basic Human Rights.

There are some individuals that say the reason behind the attack was because some terrorits were demanding Khalistan, a seperate Sink state. This is a complete lie and a poor attempt to excuse the atrocities. Not once did a Sikh leader demand Khalistan before the attack on Akaal Takhat in 1984. However, Sant Jarnail Singh Ji Khalsa Bhindranwale did statethat the moment the Indian Army enters the Golden Temple Complex it will lay the founding stone for Khalistan. According to the UNO charter of Right any nation can ask to have the right to self-determination. By virtue of that right they freely determine their political staus and freely pursue their economic, social and cultural development.

Are these the actions of the World's Largest democracy? You decide!

All we ask you to do is a small prayer for the families of the Shaheeds and to Never Forget 1984!!!

The Message I would like to send out:

Firstly, I would like to say sorry about the long delay beteewn the last post and this one. There has been a lot going on. I want everybody to know who comes to this blog that this blog was created for the pupose of awarness to the injustice towards Sikhs, hence the title. I believe it is important that we know what has happended to us. It was surprising to me that people of my own generation do not know about what happended in 1985, who Gobind Ram was, what is happening today in India with Ram Rahim among other things. If we do not know what is happening to us, who will be left to follow our religion this is exactly the point that was made in the ardass of the night of the attack on the Golden Temple. We must realize that this is exactly what people would want. Why should we follow society's mold? What do we gain? We must remember that there is strenght in numbers. It is surpring that white Sikhs would be considered more devoted to Sikhism while the have been converted than those of us who have been born into the religion itself. I have found this video of a Sikh who goes to Los Angeles, it is very interesting because the the converted Sikhs wake up every morning to pray while she cannot. The title of the video is called White Sikhs. The converted Sikhs are not clean shaven they have breads and turbans while the reporter has a haircut that suprisingly fits today's mold. Now I would like to direct our attention to what Dr.Amarjeet Singh has said in one of his lectures. As it was stated earlier, there is strenght in numbers. Not once has consideration been given towards Sikhs. Not even the Religious color of Blue. When it came time to talk about the colors for the flag of India, the color blue was rejected each and every single time it was proposed. Even more shameful is the fact of Operation bluestar. Without really realizing it we still call it operation bluestar. It was actually named that to make fun of the color, to send the message that the forces are trying to destroy the religion. Indeed, even Buddism was made fun of. The first nuclear bobm test was called Smiling Buddha and the Second was called Laughing Buddha. How can someone who promotes peace be happy about violence. You see this is just a way of spreading propaganda as has been done time and time agian. Please do think about this and leave a comment.
